2025 🎀

 Hello everyone! Happy New Year! 2024 has had some high highs and quite low lows. Despite all of this, we made it to the end! 


While I have posted a bit more this year, I'm hoping to amp up that consistency all throughout 2025. And with that, I figured a new introduction is in order!


I'm Michaela! I am a freshman in college (wow...just wow). I'm an International Politics major with a concentration in International Relations. I'm a second generation immigrant. My parents are from the Caribbean, Trinidad & Tobago and Dominica respectively. 

I love horror, romance, ancient history, black philosophy, black diasporic studies, spirituality, astrology, and astronomy.

Some of my hobbies include creative writing, painting, traveling, singing, reading, walking, and playing the piano.

While most of the creative writing I've posted here is poetry, I have many story ideas that I would love to flesh out.

I plan to continue writing about my experiences, societal issues, and the occasional book review throughout this new year.

  Over winter break, I had the pleasure to see Robert Eggers' most recent masterpiece Nosferatu . This gothic horror film is a remake of the 1922 silent German Expressionist film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror . The sets and sound design were phenomenal. The acting? Chef's kiss. Lily-Rose Depp's performance was fantastic! A true standout amongst the star-studded cast.  Hello everyone!  Today is a little different from before! I will be giving my honest review for one of my favorite skincare brands, Nature's Touch. So buckle up and get ready for the ride. Nature's Touch is a wellness brand based in Dominica that is dedicated to providing natural health products to its customers. A childhood friend of my mother, founder Misana Harris has changed what wellness looks like in Dominica. She is a natural health care specialist and herbalist who founded Nature's Touch Body Therapy and Wellness Services in 2003. Working in natural healthcare has been a childhood aspiration for the entrepreneur.  Following the events of the 2024 US election, I need an outlet. Enjoy some of my poetry(?). I’m tired. Do you know why?  They tell me to be patient and kind. To smile in the face of those who hate my existence.  Black. Woman. The daughter of Caribbean immigrants. For too long, they have said, “when they go low, we go high”. Why? Just for them to spit in my eyes. To kick me while I’m down. I am bloodied and bruised. I’m tired. Tired of this godforsaken country. Built on the blood and bones of my kin. Whose lifeline was dependent on mine. My exhaustion. My anger. My time. My life.  Fuck America. Fuck white people. Fuck all of you. Fuck being nice. I wanna cry, but I’m afraid that once I do, I won’t stop. Not until I’m hollowed out. Not until somehow we can fix this.
