Fatal Beauty

Fatal Beauty

Searching for a 21-year-old college student who went missing almost a week ago. 

What took place the night he disappeared?

    It was Valentines' Day, which meant it was time for the fraternity, Pi Sigma Eta, to hold its annual Valentines' Day party.  Justin had missed last year’s party, so when it got late, instead of heading back to his dorm room, he headed to the bar for another drink.

    There, he saw the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.  She was decked out in a hot pink dress that accentuated her voluptuous figure.  Her blonde locs hung loose and snaked down her back.  Her golden-brown skin shined under the dim lights.  She also seemed so…familiar, but he couldn’t recall how or why.  “I’m Maddy”, she said, her velvet brown eyes glistening in the light.  Justin couldn’t believe his luck.  He introduced himself, asking if she was a new student.  “I’m the president of the sorority, XΛÖΕ, but I'm just here for a friend”, she said as she eyed him hungrily.

      “They say this is the place to be.”  She grabbed the bottle out of his hand and began pouring it in her cup, never breaking eye contact.  As they conversed, Justin felt his heart beating loudly in his chest.  She made him feel like a real man again and realized that tonight could be the good time he wanted.  “Let’s get out of here”, she purred.  As the two quietly left the party, Justin’s phone buzzed with a message.  He expected a scolding text from his girlfriend, Andrea, but was greeted with a message that read:

Don’t stay out too late.  I’ll be waiting up so you can text me when you get back to your dorm.  I love you 💖💖

      Knowing that his girlfriend was waiting up for him while he was out with another woman made his stomach curdle.  Maddy chuckled.  Filled with guilt, Justin shoved his phone back into his pocket.  He sighed, knowing this would be another night cut short.  Unfazed, Maddy smiled and said, “ It’s up to you.  I’m sure she can wait a few more hours while we have fun”.  Hearing that sultry voice, Justin’s guilt immediately dissipated.  Maddy was the kind of woman he deserved, he told himself.  Just for one night at least. 

    She led  to a remote part of the campus and suggested they take a walk through the hedge maze.  “Try to keep up”, she said as she dashed through the maze.  Not wanting to be left behind, Justin ran after her.  Despite running at full speed, he wasn’t able to keep up with her.  He was so fixated on following Maddy, he didn’t notice how deep in the maze they were going.  Eventually, he lost her and wandered through the maze.  Justin called out her name, but received radio silence.  As he wandered through the maze, he came upon a clearing.  Disappointed at how this night had turned out, he tried to retrace his steps back to the main campus.  Suddenly, Justin heard a low noise coming from the darkness.  Almost like hissing.  Just before he could ask who was there, a pair of blazing gold eyes appeared from the dark corners of the hedge.  As the creature drew near, Justin let out a terrified gasp.  It was Maddy, but her human appearance had melted away.  Her golden-brown skin was accentuated with scales covering her arms.  Most striking, her blonde locs had transformed into a mass of writhing snakes.  Justin tried to move his legs, but his fear kept them glued to the ground.  With a deep, sensual voice, she said, “I have been waiting a long time to meet you Justin”.  Through his terror, he stammered and begged, "Please don't hurt me!  I have a girlfriend!"  Maddy closed the distance between them and gripped the collar of his shirt.  "If she truly mattered to you, then you would not be here at my mercy", she hissed and then added, "But don't worry about her.  I will care for what you have forsaken."  She then cupped his face and planted her cold lips on his.  Justin frantically tried to break the kiss but it was as if his lips were stuck to hers.  As the kiss deepened, Justin felt a numb sensation wash over his body.  When he tried to place his arms on her back, he found that he couldn't move them.  He opened his eyes to find that his body was hardening into cold stone.  He futilely struggled until the stone reached his face.  The last thing he saw was her fanged sneer.  Then everything went dark.

     The next morning, Maddy, now back in her human form, went to Andrea's dorm room.  The gorgon hugged Andrea tightly and said, "You were right my dear sister.  He wasn't worthy enough for you.  I'll be here as long as you need me."

Searching for any answers leading to the whereabouts of 21-year-old Justin Miller.  Family members say he went missing Saturday.
